Hello! My name is Emily, and I am a professional counselor licensed in Oregon and Colorado. INSTIGATOR. I love being that little voice reminding you to be your truest, bravest, best, most authentic self. I hear your hopes, dreams, the essence of your being, and ask,"What if you did that?" "What if you followed her?" NURTURER. My loved ones describe me as kind, warm, curious, and thoughtful. I see the best in people. I am observant and calm, but fiercely protective, principled, and advocate loudly for others. I love being a caregiver in every sense of the word. You are safe with me if you are wild at heart. I treat my friends like family. I love hosting and cooking for my loved ones. I have a million hobbies, because I never seem to run out of things I want to learn about. I have so many questions about the world, and learning about people was how I wanted to make sense of what I saw- all the good, bad, and in between. I started my career in sexual assault and domestic violence advocacy. It changed everything for me. I couldn't unsee the world this new way, so I went deeper by dedicating my life to this work. I moved from Tennessee to Colorado to go to graduate school. I worked with so much intensity- torture victims, refugees, mass violence, at home and abroad- and only found more beauty in the ways that relationships have the capacity to heal what feels 'unhealable.' I now live in Portland, Oregon, in the trees, while working remotely for my Colorado clients.
It is never lost on me the courage and vulnerability it takes to show up to the office of a stranger and bear one's soul. It moves me, and this job that feels much more like a calling than a job, has been one of the most humbling honors of my lifetime. Thank you for being here.
